Greyhounds Begin 2018-19 Season with 8-1 Win over Rival Muhlenberg

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's tennis team began its 2018-19 season Saturday with an 8-1 victory over rival Muhlenberg College on Hoffman Courts in the debut of first year Director of Tennis Aaron Wilf.

The Greyhounds would hold a 2-1 lead after the doubles action. The tandem of junior Lauren Steinert and sophomore Mary Angle started the contest with an 8-0 win at second doubles while junior Eiman Nazif and sophomore Emma Angle pushed the lead to 2-0 with an 8-5 victory at first doubles. The Mules would earn their only point of the match with a win at third doubles.

The Hounds would go on to win all six singles contests in straight sets. Emma Angle was off of the courts first with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at second singles while Nazif finished next with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at first singles. Mary Angle clinched the team victory with a 6-1, 6-4 win at third singles while Steinert was next to finish her contest with a 6-4, 6-0 triumph at fourth singles. Senior Kate Rennar turned in a 6-1, 6-0 win at sixth singles while sophomore Brooke Adams finished the afternoon with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at fifth singles.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Wednesday, September 19 when the squad hosts DeSales University in a non-conference match beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Hoffman Courts.
