BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's tennis squad improved to 2-0 on the year with a 9-0 non-conference win over visiting Immaculata University at Hoffman Courts Saturday afternoon as the Greyhounds played their first home match of the 2022-23 campaign.
How It Happened
- The Greyhounds swept the three doubles contests to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Junior Mara Stapleton and sophomore Rose Lombardo began the match with an 8-1 victory at third doubles, and they were shortly followed by seniors Maddie Figiel and Cristina Merone, who posted an 8-2 triumph at second doubles. Senior Julianne Cassady and freshman Izzy Szmodis finished off the doubles sweep with an 8-4 win at the top flight
- Merone started singles action with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at fourth singles while Cassady posted a 6-3, 6-4 triumph at first singles to garner the winning team point for the Hounds. Szmodis would record a 6-1, 6-0 win at third singles while Figiel won 6-2, 6-2 at second singles. Lombardo recorded a 6-0, 6-0 victory at fifth singles while Stapleton completed the shutout with a 6-1, 6-4 triumph at sixth singles
