ORLANDO, Fla. --- The Moravian University women's tennis team fell to Calvin (Mich.) College, 6-3, at the United States Tennis Association National Training Center in Orlando Tuesday as the Greyhounds dropped their first contest of the 2022-23 season after an 8-0 start.
How It Happened
- The Hounds led 2-1 after doubles action. The Knights took the first doubles contest to move ahead 1-0 before thee duo of seniors Maddie Figiel and Cristina Merone registered an 8-4 victory at second doubles to tie the match. Moravian took a 2-1 lead when the tandem of junior Mara Stapleton and sophomore Rose Lombardo won 8-7 (7-4) at third doubles
- Calvin rallied in singles play, taking the first five contests to finish to win the match. Moravian's lone singles point came from a 6-4, 6-3 win by Figiel at second singles
- The Blue & Grey had started 8-0 this season for the second time in three years and for the eighth time in program history
