Women Open ECAC DIII Championships at RPI

TROY, N.Y. --- The Moravian College women's track & field team opened competition at the 2014 ECAC Division III Championships being hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Thursday.

Junior Emily Lambright won her heat of the 5,000 meter run and was 10th overall in a time of 18:14.49 while junior Devon Bedell was fourth in her heat of the 3,000 meter steeplechase and 25th overall in a career-best time of 11:55.74.

Junior Brianna Wright finished first in her qualifying heat of the 100 meter dash in 12.36 seconds to move onto Friday's final.

Junior Morgan Redmond competed in the preliminaries of the 100-meter hurdles, and she was fifth in her heat and 20th overall in 15.43 seconds.

In the field events, freshman Kiara Bright was 11th in the triple jump with a season-best leap of 11.16 meters (36 feet, 7.5 inches) while freshman Lauren Suelke was 15th in the event at 10.90 meters (35 feet, 9.25 inches). Junior Jenny Kratch placed 21st in the hammer throw with a toss of 41.94 meters (137 feet, seven inches).

The Greyhounds will have another six competitors in action on Friday in the second and final day of action at the ECAC Championships with action beginning at 10:00 a.m.
