Hounds Compete in Collegeville Classic

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. ---The Moravian College women's track and field team took part in the Collegeville Classic hosted by Ursinus Friday night competing for the first time this semester and placing 19th as a team.

Senior Dana Fineman earned fourth in the pole vault clearing 3.05m (10 feet) while freshman Beth Davies took ninth by clearing 2.75m (9 feet, 1/4in) and sophomore Casey Raymond cleared 2.60m (8 feet, 6 1/4 in) for 12th place.

In the long jump, junior Christelle Reglas took 14th with a leap of 4.51m (14 feet, 9 ¾ in) while freshman Carly Thorpe jumped 4.49m (10 feet, 8 3/4in) and Raymond took 20th at 4.23m (13feet, 10 1/2in). Thorpe took 13th in the triple jump leaping 9.08m (32 feet, 2in). Freshman Ciara Stewart claimed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 11.48m (37 feet, 8in).

Sophomore Sarah Hughes placed 14th in the mile with a time of 5:38.71 while freshman Jillian Troisi took 18th in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 11:58.66. Junior Meghan Newman also took 18th in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 10.38 seconds while the 4x400 team that consisted of Hughes, senior Alyssa Tallon and freshman Christine Hughes and Kirsten Lebo took 12th with a time of 4:53.10.

Friday evening was the first competition for the Greyhounds since December 6, and just half of the team competed. The rest of Moravian's squad is set to return to action on Saturday, January 24 at the Princeton University Tiger Open beginning at 11:00 a.m.
