Bright, Glass & Sutter Win Events at Kutztown Last Chance

KUTZTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's indoor track & field team had three individual champions as the squad finished up its regular season schedule on Saturday at the non-scoring Kutztown University Last Chance Invitational.

Junior Corinne Glass won the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:01.28 while senior Brielle Sutter captured first place in the 200-meter dash in 26.53 seconds. Sutter and Glass were both part of the Greyhounds' 4x400-meter relay squad along with senior Morgan Redmond and freshman Casie Cronk that finished second in a time of 4:19.36.

Sophomore Kiara Bright had a third individual win for the Greyhounds as she captured the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying mark of 10.85 meters (35-7.25) on the final leap of the competition.

Senior Brianna Wright was the runner-up in the 55-meter dash in a career-best time of 7.35 seconds after qualifying with a time of 7.41 seconds in the preliminary. Redmond had a career-best time of 8.73 seconds in the preliminaries of the 55-meter hurdles, and then she ran 8.79 seconds in the finals to place fourth in the event. Wright was also third in the 200-meter dash in 27.02 seconds while Redmond placed fourth in 27.07 seconds. Cronk was tied for fourth in the high jump as she cleared 1.50 meters (4-11).

Senior Dana Fineman placed second in the pole vault, clearing an ECAC qualifying height of 3.64 meters (11-11.25). Freshman Beth Davies took 11th in the event at 2.85 meters (9-4.25).

Senior Jenny Kratch hit an ECAC qualifying mark while placing fifth in the 20-pound weight throw with a toss of 14.16 meters (46-5.5), and junior Abbey Clark was 15th in the event at 12.52 meters (41-1). Freshman Ciara Stewart finished sixth the shot put with a toss of 11.38 meters (37-4) while Clark was ninth at 10.98 meters (36-0.25) and Kratch was in 10th with a mark of 10.78 meters (35-4.5).

Sophomore Lauren Suelke was seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 10.36 meters (34-0) while freshman Carly Thorpe placed 10th at 9.91 meters (32-6.25) and senior Giana Vecchio was 12th at 9.03 meters (29-7.5).

In other track results, freshman Lauren White was seventh in the 55-meter dash preliminaries in 7.58 seconds, and she took 10th in the 200-meter dash at 28.77 seconds while junior Christelle Reglas placed sixth in the 200-meter dash in 27.53 seconds. Freshman Melissa Cheong finished ninth in the preliminaries of the 55-meter hurdles in 9.20 seconds, and she was 13th in the 200-meter dash in a time of 28.77 seconds.

Sophomore Sarah Hughes placed fifth in the mile run with a time of 5:39.90 while freshman Kirsten Lebo took 12th in the race in 5:58.74 and freshman Christine Hughes was 14th in 6:00.79. Senior Alyssa Tallon placed eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:33.71 while freshman Jillian Troisi was 11th in the 3,000-meter run in 12:02.64.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action next Saturday, February 28 at the 2015 Landmark Conference Championships hosted by Susquehanna University as the Hounds look to win their eighth straight Landmark title.
