Wright Earns Another Landmark Track Athlete of the Week Honor

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College senior sprinter Brianna Wright has been named as the Landmark Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week for a second straight week for her performance this past Saturday.

Wright was the runner-up in the 55-meter dash at the non-scoring Kutztown University Last Chance Invitational in a career-best time of 7.35 seconds after qualifying with a time of 7.41 seconds in the preliminary. Wright was also third in the 200-meter dash in 27.02 seconds.

"Last year at the Kutztown meet, Brianna had a big breakthrough so we were hoping history would repeat itself," commented Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "She's been hovering around 8.00 (60m) pretty much the entire season so we knew it was only a matter of time before she broke though and she did it in a big way on Saturday. Her converted time puts her at 0.08 seconds below her previous 60m PR, which in sprinting terms is a significant difference. This was also about 0.15 seconds ahead of where she was at this meet last year so this is a great confidence boost for the next few months as she tries to set some school records and get to the NCAAs."

Moravian is looking to capture its eighth straight Landmark Conference title when the squad heads to Susquehanna University on Saturday, February 28 for the 2015 Landmark Conference Championship meet scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
