Greyhounds Compete in New Events at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's track & field squad competed on the second day of the Penn Relays at historic Franklin Field Friday by running in a pair of relay events for the first time in school history.

The Greyhounds placed tenth in the College Women's Shuttle Hurdles Championship of America Invitational race in a time of 1:05.49. The quartet of senior Morgan Redmond, junior Meghan Newman, sophomore Rebecca Flitcroft and freshman Melissa Cheong was just edged out by Ramapo College of New Jersey by 16 hundredths of a second. The shuttle hurdles has each team taking up two lanes and running 100-meter hurdle races. Each runner cannot begin their turn until the previous competitor has crossed the line.

Moravian also ran the 4x200-meter relay for the first time in school history with the squad placing second in its heat and 40th overall in a time of 1:44.07. Redmond joined with senior Brielle Sutter, junior Corinne Glass and sophomore Lauren White to run the race.
