Lambright Selected to Capital One Academic All-America 1st Team for Cross Country/Track & Field

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College senior Emily Lambright has been named to the 2015 Capital One Academic All-America NCAA Division III Women's Track & Field/Cross Country First Team.

To be eligible for Capital One Academic All-America® accolades, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.30 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve. Beginning in 2011-12, the program is made up of four levels – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division (NAIA, Canadian colleges and junior colleges). Lambright made the All-District IV First Team to advance to the national ballot, and District IV in NCAA Division III is made up of schools from Pennsylvania. Lambright, who was on the Academic All-America Second Team last year, is Moravian's 43rd Capital One Academic All-American®.

"This is yet another well-deserved honor for Emily. She maintained a 4.0 GPA with two majors and a minor. She was involved in an honors project for over a year which included a month in Bangladesh. She was a tutor and even a T.A. for classes as an undergrad," stated Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jesse Baumann. "In addition to that she had a tremendous senior year of running earning All Region honors in Cross Country, winning four conference titles on the track, and moved up to No. 5 on our All-Time list for the 5,000 meters while at ECACs. She balanced all of these tasks while either applying to or visiting over 30 graduate schools before ultimately choosing to go to Duke University and earn her Ph.D. in Public Policy/Economics. There may be equals, but I can't imagine anyone being a better example of what a student-athlete should be than Emily, and she is very deserving of this recognition."

Last fall, Lambright earned a spot on the 2014 Landmark Cross Country All-Conference First team with a fourth place finish, earning the honor for the second straight year. She posted a career-best time of 22:54.1 at NCAA Division III Mideast Regional this past November as she garnered All-Region honors for the first time in her career. Lambright made the All-Conference Second Team in 2011 as well, and she has helped the Greyhounds to 10 Landmark titles in her 12 seasons over cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field.

On the track, Lambright had the best winter and spring of her career in 2014-15. She was named to the Landmark All-Conference First Team indoors after winning the conference individual titles in both the 3,000 and 5,000-meter distances, and Lambright duplicated the feat outdoors as she won the 5,000 and 10,000-meter runs. In 2014, she earned spots on the All-Conference Second Team for runner-up finishes in the mile and 3,000 meter runs indoors, and Lambright made the Second Team outdoors with a second-place showing in the 5,000 meter run.

Lambright was named to the 2013-14 Landmark All-Sportsmanship Teams during all three seasons, and she has been named to the Landmark Academic Honor Roll nine times and was on the 2012 Landmark Fall All-Academic Team. Lambright was named the 2014 Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete for women's cross country. She was also selected as Moravian's 2015 Blue & Grey Senior Female Scholar-Athlete after graduating with a 4.00 GPA.

When she wasn't competing, Lambright served as the finance chair for Moco for Coco, and she played the principle oboe in Moravian's orchestra. Lambright graduated on May 16 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and political science.
