Flitcroft Finishes Off Heptathlon at Mondschein Multi Hosted by Kutztown

KUTZTOWN, Pa. --- Moravian College senior Rebecca Flitcroft competed in the final three events of the heptathlon on the second day of the Mondschein Multi hosted by Kutztown University of Pennsylvania Friday.

Flitcroft finished with a total of 3,235 points, which ranks fourth in the Moravian record book and ninth in the Landmark Conference. Entering the day with 2,108 points from Thursday's four events, Flitcroft started the game with a leap of 4.05 meters (13-3.5) in the long jump to pick up 319 points. She then had a toss of 15.59 meters (15.59 meters (51-1) in the javelin for 207 points, and Flitcroft finished off the meet with a time of 2:37.56 in the 800-meter run to gain 601 points.

"This is something Becky has wanted to do for a while but she's had a number of setbacks over her career here and even this year she was having some minor injuries and we weren't certain she'd be ready for Kutztown either," stated Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "Despite that, she persevered and had a very good meet. She ran a great hurdle race and had a nice shot put and 200 as well. She got out a little hard in her 800, but overall it was a solid performance for her and puts her at #4 in school history. It's been something she's been targeting for months, even years, so I know she was extremely happy with what she accomplished."

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, April 15 when the squad hosts the second day of the Greyhound Invitational at Timothy Breidegam Track and Rocco Calvo Field with action beginning at 10:00 a.m.
