Cooper & Finnegan Lead Hounds at Lehigh Games

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's track & field teams had its final tune-up for the 2017 Landmark Conference Championships Saturday at the non-scoring Lehigh University Games.

Senior Jackie Finnegan led the Greyhounds with a school record and ECAC qualifying toss of 49.19 meters (161-5) in the hammer throw to place fourth in the meet. The distance ranks 39th on the Track & Field Results Reporting System list and the top 22 women will advance to the NCAA Division III National Championships at the University of Mount Union in late May. Finnegan also placed seventh in the discus with an ECAC qualifying toss of 37.24 meters (122-2).

Freshman Lily Cooper was tied for fifth in the 100-meer dash in 12.94 seconds, and she placed seventh in the 200-meter dash in 26.10 seconds while senior Lauren White was seventh in the 100-meter dash in 12.96 seconds. Cooper and White combined with sophomores Amari Schooler and Abigail Strouse to finish third in the 4x100-meter relay in an ECAC qualifying time of 49.41 seconds.

Freshman Carly Danoski was seventh in the 800-meter run with an ECAC qualifying time of 2:15.23 while sophomore Anna Osman was fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in an ECAC qualifying time of 1:06.59.

Junior Maggie Heft was eighth in the hammer throw with an ECAC qualifying toss of 44.75 meters (146-10) while junior Trista Cunningham was tenth in the hammer at 41.14 meters (134-11), tenth in the shot put at 11.12 meters (36-5.75) and tenth in the discus at 35.59 meters (116-9).

Junior Melissa Cheong was tied for fifth in the high jump at 1.55 meters (5-1), and she was sixth in the long jump at an ECAC qualifying distance of 5.28 meters (17-4) while junior Casie Cronk was tied for ninth in the high jump at 1.50 meters (4-11). Senior Kiara Bright was seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 10.16 meters (33-4) while junior Carly Thorpe took eighth at 9.98 meters (32-9) and senior Lauren Suelke finished ninth with a distance of 9.94 meters (32-7.5). Junior Beth Ann Davis was ninth in the pole vault at 3.05 meters (10-0).

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday and Sunday, May 6-7 when the Greyhounds host the 2017 Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships at Timothy Breidegam Track and Rocco Calvo Field.
