Danoski Honored as ECAC Division III Metro Women's Track & Field Rookie of the Week

DANBURY, Conn. --- Moravian College freshman Carly Danoski has been honored as the ECAC Division III Metro Women's Track & Field Rookie of the Week for her performance last week.

Danoski, who earned ECAC Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this spring, was seventh in the 800-meter run at the non-scoring Lehigh University Games in an ECAC qualifying time of 2:15.23 to lead the Moravian women's squad that had six ECAC qualifiers.

"Carly finally broke through like we knew she could," commented Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "Her workouts have been incredible, she's shown she has the necessary speed in some 4x400s, it was just a matter of finding the right race conditions for her to break through and set a new PR. She went out in 65 seconds and had a nice pack to draft off of, then followed up with her standard kick to set nearly a 2.5 second PR in the 800. We both know she can get under 2:15 this season, though, so she still has some bigger goals in mind."

Moravian is set to return to action when the squad hosts the 2017 Landmark Conference Championships on Saturday and Sunday, May 6-7 at Timothy Breidegam Track and Rocco Calvo Field.
