Duncan & Suelke Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team for Women's Track/Cross Country

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College junior thrower Mary Kate Duncan and senior jumper Lauren Suelke have been named to the 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Women's Track/Cross Country Team for NCAA Division III schools in District IV.

To be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.30 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve. District IV in NCAA Division III is made up of schools from Pennsylvania. Moravian has had 45 Greyhounds named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans® including two already in 2016-17.

By making the All-District First Team, Duncan and Suelke are now forwarded onto the national ballot to try for CoSIDA Academic All-America® accolades, which will be announced on June 21.

Duncan is majoring in Public Health, and she has a 3.79 GPA. This spring, Duncan has won the 2017 ECAC Division III Championship in the javelin with a PR throw of 45.82 meters (150-4), which is the second-best thrown in the nation this season. Duncan is a two-time runner-up in the javelin at the Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships in 2016 and 2017, and she was an All-American in the event in 2016 with a fifth place throw of 44.19 meters (144-11) last spring.

Off of the field, Duncan is a two-time member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll, and she is a member of the Newman Association and Spanish Club on Campus. She was elected as the Junior Class representative to Student Government and has made the Dean's List five times.

Duncan is set to compete in the 2017 NCAA Division III National Championships on Thursday, May 25 at 3:00 p.m. with three other student-athletes from the Landmark Conference in the event.

Suelke finished her degree in Political Science and Economics earlier this month, and she has a 3.95 GPA entering her final semester. This spring, Suelke was the runner-up in the triple jump at the Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships with a distance of 10.30 meters (33-9.5). She was the 2014 Landmark Outdoor Rookie of the Year after runner-up finishes in high jump, long jump & triple jump and the 2014 Landmark Indoor Co-Field Athlete of the Year after winning long jump. Suelke was 2015 runner-up in long jump outdoors and she missed the entire 2016 season while studying abroad.

Off of the field, Suelke is a four-time member of the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll, twice in the spring for outdoors and twice in the winter for indoors, and she is a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor Society, Omicron Delta Epsilon Economics and Business Honor Society and Pre Law Club, serving president in 2015. Suelke has made the Dean's List seven times.
