Schooler & Cronk Honored as Landmark Conference Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week

Amari Schooler '19 and Casie Cronk '18 honored as Landmark Conference Athletes of the Week.

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College junior sprinter/hurdler Amari Schooler and senior jumper Casie Cronk have been honored as the Landmark Conference Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for their performances this past weekend.

The duo competed at the Lehigh University Fast Times Before Finals meet at Rauch Fieldhouse on Saturday in the Greyhounds' final competition of the first semester.

Schooler, running for the first time this season, finished sixth in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 9.45 seconds, and she had a time of 9.41 seconds in the preliminaries to rank fifth heading into the finals. Schooler also ran a time of 29.58 seconds in the 200-meter dash Saturday.

"Amari had to miss last week, although it was for a class conflict, not due to injury," commented Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jesse Baumann. "She has been looking incredible so far in practices. We actually felt she would have been a little quicker Saturday based on how she's looked this fall, but she's still appreciably faster than 12 months ago so things are looking great for her. She's another one we expect to be making a push for NCAAs in Alabama when we get to March."

Cronk competed in the high jump for the second straight week at Lehigh, and she finished in a tie for 11th after clearing a height of 1.50 meters (4-11).

"This has been a respectable start to the season for Casie so far, consistently clearing the 1.50 bar the first two meets," Baumann said. "We're confident she's capable of a lot more and expect her to be jumping another 15-20 cm higher before indoors is over. She's working hard, we have no doubt she'll put in the work during our winter break and come back ready to build off a solid first two meets. As with Amari, she's an athlete who we have set the goal of making it to either Alabama or Wisconsin."

Moravian is slated to return to action on Friday, January 20 in the Collegeville Classic hosted by Ursinus College.
