Danoski Honored as Landmark Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week

Carly Danoski '20 honored as the Landmark Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week.

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College sophomore Carly Danoski has been honored as the Landmark Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week after her performance last week.

Danoski won the 800-meter run at the Lehigh University John Covert Classic with a time of 2:19.16, the fifth fastest time in school history. Her time won the race by over a full second in the 46-runner field. Danoski also ran the anchor leg of Moravian's 4x400-meter relay squad that placed ninth with a time of 4:24.58.

"Carly's over a second and two weeks ahead of where she was last year, so we're certainly content with this race, but we also know she needs more for her ultimate goal of making the NCAAs in March," stated Head Coach Jesse Baumann. She ran a perfect race on Saturday, used the field to her advantage through the 400, and when they were starting to hold her back around 500 meters in she wisely broke from the field and took over the race. We're likely going to aim for another big shot at the 800 at The Armory in two weeks when we hope she can continue to drop towards 2:15 by March, which is likely what she'll need in order to make it to Alabama."

Moravian is slated to compete in a pair of meets on Saturday, February 3 with the majority of the team heading to the 19th Annual DeSchriver Invitational at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and the rest of the squad heading to the Susquehanna University Challenge. Both meets are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
