Danoski Selected as Landmark Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week

Carly Danoski '20 selected as Landmark Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week.

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College sophomore Carly Danoski has been honored as the Landmark Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week for her performance last week.

Danoski, who received her second Landmark Conference honor of the season, earned 10 team points for the Hounds after a win in the 800-meter run at the New York University DIII Invitational competed at the NYC Armory last Friday where Moravian took fourth place of 26 teams that scored and 30 total teams. Danoski raced to a time of 2:16.18, which took 2.69 seconds off of her previous personal best in the event. The time was also just two-tenths of a second under the Greyhounds' current school record of 2:15.99 by Heidi Wolfsberger set in 2001 at East Stroudsburg University.

"Carly had a solid day but it was a little bittersweet," commented Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "It was her indoor PR by over two seconds but we felt she could have run even faster. She led the race for 750m and never really had anybody to push her, or we both feel she could have challenged our school record. Her first quarter of the 800 was in 64.5 and she split 60.2 in our 4x4 which shows us she's got the speed she needs to get into the 2:14 range and make NCAAs. All we need is someone to push her a little more in the later stages of the race and I think she can get there."

Moravian is scheduled to participate in the Kutztown University 6-Team Qualifier on Friday, February 16 beginning at 4:30 p.m.
