Women Capture Four Event Titles in Greyhound Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's track & field team hosted the annual Greyhound Invitational at Timothy Breidegam Track and Rocco Calvo Field on Friday and Saturday.

The women's squad had four individual champions. Senior Trista Cunningham won the discus with a toss of 38.65 meters while senior Mary Kate Duncan captured the javelin throw with a toss of 43.09 meters (141-4) with freshman Emma Blades taking seventh at 34.05 meters (111-8).

Sophomore Carly Danoski on the 800-meter run in a time of 2:16.00 while senior Sarah Hughes won the 5,000-meter run in 18:02.47 and  freshman Natalie Novotni was seventh in the race in 19:29.43.

In other distance races, sophomore Katie Mayer was fourth in the 1,500-meter run in 4:54.11 while freshman Molly Talarico placed eighth in 5:09.26. Sophomore Ashley Rohrer was sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 12:37.03 while sophomore Rachel Mikols was eighth in 12:41.05.

Junior Anna Osman was fourth in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.21, and she placed fifth in the 200-meter dash in 27.21 seconds. Freshman Aimee Badman was eighth in the finals of the 100-meter dash in 13.09 seconds after placing sixth in the preliminaries in 12.74 seconds. Badman also ran a leg of Moravian's 4x100-meter relay with freshmen Camaryn Wheeler and Tatiana Lopez  and junior Jordan Luciano  to a seventh place time of 50.68 seconds.

Senior Beth Ann Davieswas third in the pole vault at 3.35 meters (10-11.75) while senior Carly Thorpe was seventh in the triple jump at 10.28 meters (33-8.75) and freshman Martha Thorpe took tenth at 9.84 meters (32-3.5). Senior Casie Cronk was tied for seventh in the high jump at 1.55 meters (5-1).

In action Friday, Cunningham was second in the hammer throw with a toss of 44.95 meters (147-6), while senior Maggie Heft was third at 43.16 meters (141-7), senior Ciara Stewart placed fifth at 39.10 (128-3) and sophomore Britney Blaise took ninth at 32.33 meters (106-1). Cunningham was also fourth in the shot put with a toss of 11.19 meters (36-8.5) while freshman Layne Morgan was seventh at 10.58 meters (34-8.5). On the track, freshman Grace Gilbert placed second in the 10,000-meter run in 39:24.24.

Moravian is scheduled to compete in two meets this week with several competitors heading to the Penn Relays while the rest of the squad will compete in the Lehigh University Games on Saturday, April 28.
