Hounds Win Pair of Individual Events & Take Third Overall at Collegeville Classic

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's track & field squad finished third of 19 teams at the Collegeville Classic hosted by Ursinus College Saturday as the Greyhounds returned to action for the first time in six weeks.

The Hounds scored 52 points as Moravian's total included a pair of individual first place finishes. Haverford College earned the top spot with 73 points while the host Bears were second with 59 points.

Junior Carly Danoski captured first in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:23.18 while sophomore Natalie Novotni won 5,000-meter run on a time of 18:49.57 as each runner garnered 10 points for the Greyhounds.

Freshman Natalie Stabilito added six points for a third place in the 800-meter run in 2:28.13 while sophomore Molly Talarico finished fifth in the mile run in 5:39.90, earning four points, while freshman Santina Burak placed eight in 5:52.16 for one point. Senior Alyssa Limbaugh was fourth in the 3,000-meter run in a time of 11:38.01 to earn five points, and she was followed by freshman Emma Marion in fifth at 11:38.22 for four points and junior Ashley Rohrer at eighth in a time of 12:02.56 for on point. Sophomore Grace Gilbert took ninth in the 5,000 meters in 20:34.64 and junior Marlee Hornbaker was tenth in 21:21.94.

Senior Anna Osman and sophomore Cat Cole each made the finals of the 60-meter hurdles with Osman running 10.22 seconds in the preliminaries and Cole posting a time of 10.58 seconds. Cole took eighth in the finals in 10.33 seconds to earn a point while Osman placed ninth in 10.38 seconds. Senior Jordan Luciano earned a spot in the 60-meter dash final after posting a time of 8.46 seconds in the preliminary races, and she took ninth in the finals in 8.43 seconds. Luciano was also ninth in the 200-meter dash in 28.01 seconds while sophomore Morgan Weaver finished tenth in the race in 28.15 seconds.

In the field events, Luciano finished second in the long jump with a leap of 5.11 meters (16-9.25) to earn eight points while sophomore Jenevieve Eberly was seventh with a distance of 4.85 (15.11) to earn two points.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, January 26 when the squad hosts the Covert Classic at Lehigh University's Rauch Fieldhouse.
