Moravian Women Tied for 20th after Opening Day of 2023 AARTFC Indoor Championships

NEW YORK, N.Y. --- The Moravian University women's track & field team is tied for 20th of 29 teams scoring points on the first day of competition in the 2023 All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Indoor Championships at the New York City Armory on Friday.

Moravian Results

  • Seniors Rachel Byrne and Crystal Robinson, sophomore Abby Giamoni and freshman Elena Bocchetti won their heat and finished fourth overall in the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 3:59.11 to earn five points for the Greyhounds. The time was the quartet's second fastest of the season and second best in school history, just the second sub-four minute time in program history
  • Senior Helen Davis ran a time of 7.96 seconds in the 60-meter dash preliminaries to finish 17th of 32 runners in the opening heats
  • Freshman Tara Smurla placed 15th in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:31.38
