St. Vincent Defeats Moravian in Semifinals of ECAC South Tournament

The fourth seeded Moravian College women's volleyball team saw its 2011 season come to a close with a 25-15, 25-16, 25-20 loss to eighth seeded Saint Vincent College in the ECAC Division III South Championship Tournament Semifinals hosted by Bethany College Saturday.

The Greyhounds finish the year at 23-13, and the program was making its sixth ECAC Tournament appearance in the last 11 years. Senior middle blocker Katie Moquete, pictured at right, led Moravian with 11 kills to become the seventh player in school history to reach 1,100 career kills at 1,108, and she had two digs while freshman outside hitter Taylor Jennings had seven kills, eight digs and two blocks. Senior defensive specialist Ashley Schmidt, who played setter in the match due to an injury to sophomore Kelly Brown, had 29 assists and 13 digs.

Junior libero Jesse Krasley led the Greyhounds with 29 digs to finish the season with a school record 803 digs in a school record 129 sets played, and Krasley added two assists and a service ace while junior right side hitter Samantha Savite had four kills, eight digs, a block and a service aces. Freshman outside hitter Kellianne Comitalo and sophomore middle blocker Brittany O'Hara each had three kills for Moravian with O'Hara adding three blocks. Junior outside hitter JeanAnne Carey had five digs and two kills in the match.

Senior outside hitter Taylor Guido led Saint Vincent with 14 kills while sophomore outside hitter Kayla Stadleman added 13 kills. Junior setter Devin McGrath paced the Bearcats with 33 assists and two service aces while senior outside hitter Natalie Hozak had 12 kills.

St. Vincent advance to play host and third seed Bethany in the championship match Saturday evening.
