Kornmann Makes All-Tournament Team as Hounds Sweep York

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team closed out the 12th Annual Greyhound Premiere Invitational with a 25-13, 25-21, 25-16 victory over York College of Pennsylvania in the championship bracket Saturday afternoon.

The Greyhounds jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the opening set but saw the Spartans close to within a point, 7-6, before pulling away. Moravian then had a 7-0 lead in the second set and a 21-10 advantage before York scored 10 of the next 13 points to make the set close. The Spartans had a brief 6-5 lead on the Hounds in the third set before Moravian moved in front for good.

Sophomore middle blocker Taylor Kornmann, who was named to the All-Tournament Team, led Moravian with 14 kills and a pair of blocks in the victory. Freshman outside hitter Mary Zacher added seven kills, a match high seven service aces and five digs for the Hounds while junior middle blocker Victoria Bobyak contributed six kills.

Junior setter Megan Szkolnicki paced the offense with 26 assists to go along with 10 digs and four service aces while sophomore opposite hitter Jaclyn Smith had four kills. Freshman libero Jean Markovic also had 10 digs for the Greyhounds.

Moravian, which went 3-1 in the season opening tournament, is set to return to action on Tuesday, September 2 in a non-conference match at Widener University beginning at 7:00 p.m.
