Volleyball Falls in Non-Conference Match at Haverford

HAVERFORD, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 non-conference decision at Haverford College Thursday evening, falling 25-10, 25-17, 25-17.

In the opening set, the Fords scored the first five points but the Greyhounds would cut the score to 7-4. Moravian was within 11-6 when Haverford ran off 10 straight points to take control of the set. In the second game, the Hounds were down 12-6 before junior middle blocker Victoria Bobyak served Moravian within a point at 12-11. The Greyhounds trailed 15-14 before the Fords score 10 of the final 13 points in the set. Haverford took an early lead in the final game before the Hounds closed within four points, 16-12. Haverford the scored five of the next six points to extend the lead.

Freshman outside hitter Mary Zacher led Moravian with eight kills to go with six digs while sophomore middle blocker Taylor Kornmann had seven kills and a pair of blocks for the Greyhounds. Bobyak contributed a pair of kills while junior outside hitter Lauren Hostetler had four kills and 10 digs.

Junior setter Megan Szkolnicki added 18 assists and seven digs for the Hounds while freshman libero Jean Markovic had a team-high 11 digs.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, October 11 in a tri-match at Montclair State University with Brooklyn College with Moravian taking on Brooklyn at 12:00 p.m. and the host Red Hawks at 2:00 p.m.
