Giardina & Smith Selected as Women's Volleyball Captains for 2015

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball program has named senior defensive specialist Andrea Giardina and junior outside hitter Jaclyn Smith as team captains for the 2015 season.

"Jackie and Andi are two different individuals but they complement each other very well," commented Head Coach Shelley Bauder. "They both see a lot of time on the court, but they both are always listening to the team and trying to keep what's best for the team in mind. They are also both very respected by their teammates and know how to communicate with everyone very well."

Giardina has played in 98 career matches for the Greyhounds as both a libero and defensive specialist. She has contributed 575 digs, 36 service aces and 64 assists in her career, and Giardina is a two-time member of the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll. She has also represented the Hounds on the Landmark Conference Fall All-Sportsmanship Team the last two seasons.

Smith has seen action in 49 matches in her first two years with the program. She has 108 kills. 46 blocks and 35 digs in her time on the court for the Greyhounds. Smith also earned a spot on the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll last year.

Moravian is slated to begin its 2015 season on Tuesday, September 1 when the squad hosts DeSales University in a non-conference match in Johnston Hall starting at 7:00 p.m.
