Volleyball Drops Two Tough Landmark Conference Matches

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian College volleyball team played two Landmark Conference matches Saturday at Elizabethtown High School. The first match was a loss to No. 1 Juniata College, 25-11, 25-18, 25-12. The second match was a 25-12, 25-13, 25-19 loss against Susquehanna University.

In the match versus Juniata, junior middle blocker Taylor Kornmann led the Hounds with six kills, one dig and one block. Freshman middle blocker Erin Tiger tallied four kills, and two blocks while sophomore outside hitter Mary Zacher added eight digs, three kills and one service ace. Senior setter Megan Szkolnicki racked up 13 assists and two digs while sophomore libero Jean Markovic added 11 digs, two service aces and one assist.

In the second match of the day versus Susquehanna, Moravian was led by Zacher, who tallied eight kills, four digs and three service aces. Szkolnicki added 21 assists and 11 digs while Kornmann added six kills. Also contributing for the Greyhounds was freshman opposite hitter Rachel Farmer, who added two kills, three digs and one service ace. Tiger had five kills for the Hounds, and Markovic tallied 14 digs, three service aces, one kill and one assist.

Up next for Moravian is a non-conference match versus Penn State-Berks on Tuesday, September 29 at 7:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall on the campus of Moravian College.
