Hounds Split Matches on Second Day of Knights Invitational

ASTON, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team split a pair of matches on the second day of the Knights Invitational Saturday being hosted by Neumann University.

The Greyhounds fell to Swarthmore College in three sets, 25-19, 25-17, 25-19 before defeating the host Knights, 19-25, 30-28, 25-23, 25-22.

Junior outside hitter Mary Zacher led the Hounds with nine kills and eight digs against Swarthmore while senior right side hitter Jaclyn Smith had four kills and two blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Rachel Farmer added three kills and a pair of blocks while senior middle blocker Taylor Kornmann had three kills.

Freshman setter Victoria Kauffman led Moravian's offense with 22 assists while freshman defensive specialist Alexis Szaro had four digs.

Kornmann led the Blue and Grey with 18 kills, four blocks and a pair of service aces in the win over Neumann, and she was also named to the All-Tournament Team after the match. Sophomore middle blocker Erin Tiger had 14 kills and two blocks while Zacher contributed 11 kills, 23 digs and a pair of blocks.

Kauffman posted 47 assists, 11 digs, four service aces and three blocks while Szaro added 20 digs and three service aces. Junior defensive specialist Ashton Galasso contributed 11 digs while Farmer had 10 digs.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, September 21 in a non-conference match at Bryn Mawr College starting at 7:00 p.m.
