Hounds Sweep Bryn Mawr in Non-Conference Action

BRYN MAWR, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team won its final tune-up before conference action begins this weekend with a three-set sweep of Bryn Mawr College on the road Wednesday evening in non-conference play.

The Greyhounds, now 8-5 on the season, won the opening set 25-18 after falling behind early, 7-3, and the Hounds took the second set, 25-16. The Blue and Grey finished off the sweep by winning the third set, 25-17.

Sophomore middle blocker Erin Tiger led Moravian with 11 kills while junior outside hitter Mary Zacher contributed seven kills and nine digs. Freshman outside hitter Brooke Kusmider had six kills, eight digs and three service aces while senior middle blocker Taylor Kornmann added four kills, three digs and a team-high four blocks.

Freshman setter Victoria Kauffman paced the Greyhounds offense with 28 assists to go along with five digs while freshman defensive specialist Alexis Szaro had nine digs and three service aces. Sophomore defensive specialist Bridgette Devlin contributed six digs while senior right side hitter Jaclyn Smith had three kills.

Moravian will open its 2016 Landmark Conference season on Saturday, September 24 when the Hounds host Catholic University, Goucher College and Elizabethtown College in a quad match. The Greyhounds play Catholic at 11:00 a.m. in Johnston Hall and will finish the day playing Goucher at 6:30 p.m.
