Hounds Split Final Tri-Match of 2016 Season

LANCASTER, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team split its final tri-match of the 2016 season Saturday as the Greyhounds defeated Dickinson College, 3-1, before falling to host Franklin & Marshall College, 3-1, to end the regular season.

The Hounds topped the Red Devils by set scores of 25-21, 25-21, 24-26, 25-15 for the squad's 18th win of the season. Junior outside hitter Mary Zacher paced the squad with 18 kills, 18 digs and four service aces while freshman outside hitter Brooke Kusmider added 11 kills, 15 digs and two service aces.

Sophomore middle blocker Erin Tiger turned in 10 kills and three blocks in the win while senior middle blocker Taylor Kornmann had seven kills and a block as she moved into sole possession of third place in school history with 289 blocks. Senior right side hitter Jaclyn Smith had three kills while freshman setter Victoria Kauffman had 50 assists and four digs. Junior libero Jean Markovic led the Greyhounds with33 digs to go with a pair of service aces while freshman defensive specialist Alexis Szaro had 16 digs and three service aces for Moravian.

The Greyhounds would take the opening set from the Diplomats, 25-23, before dropping the next three, 25-21, 25-16, 25-14. Tiger recorded a team-high 13 kills while Kornmann added 10 kills and a pair of digs. Zacher contributed nine kills, 11 digs and a trio of service aces while Smith had four kills.

Kauffman contributed 37 assists and 11 digs while Markovic had another 27 digs for Moravian. Kusmider added 10 digs and a pair of kills.

Moravian's regular season comes to a close with an 18-14 overall record. The Greyhounds will now await a possible berth in the 2016 ECAC Division III Championship Tournament that will be announced on Monday, November 7.
