Greyhounds Open 2017 Slate on Friday, September 1 with 15th Annual Greyhound Premiere

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team starts its 2017 season on Friday and Saturday, September 1-2 when the Hounds host the 15th Annual Greyhound Premiere Invitational in Johnston Hall and Timothy Breidegam Fieldhouse.

The Blue and Grey open the tournament with Alvernia University on Friday at 4:00 p.m., and Moravian will also play Baldwin Wallace (Ohio) College on opening night at 8:00 p.m. The Greyhounds will take on Pitt-Bradford at 10:00 a.m. and York College of Pennsylvania at 2:00 p.m.

Head Coach Shelley Bauder enters her 25th season leading the program in search of her 500th career win as she begins the season with a 482-213 mark. Bauder returns 10 letterwinners and five starters from last year's 19-15 squad. Leading that group of returnees are senior outside hitter Mary Zacher, who begins the season just two kills shy of becoming the 11th player in school history to 1,000 kills, and Zacher is eighth all-time with 1,144 digs while senior libero Jean Markovic is third in school history with 1,612 digs.
