LANCASTER, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball squad split a tri-match at Franklin & Marshall College Saturday as the Greyhounds won their sixth consecutive match, 3-1, over Haverford College, before falling to the host Diplomats, 3-0.
The Fords took the opening set from the Hounds, 25-20, before the Blue and Grey rattled off set wins of 25-18, 25-18, 25-20 to move above the .500 mark at 8-7 on the year. Junior middle blocker Erin Tiger led Moravian with 19 kills, four blocks and a pair of digs in the contest while senior outside hitter Mary Zacher added ten kills, 17 digs and three service aces. Freshman middle blocker Madi Anslow and sophomore outside hitter Brooke Kusmider each contributed six kills with Anslow adding three blocks and Kusmider contributing five digs.
Sophomore setter Victoria Kauffman controlled the offense against the Fords with 37 assists to go with ten digs and a pair of blocks while senior libero Jean Markovic had 17 digs and a pair of service aces. Sophomore defensive specialist Alexis Szaro also had 17 digs while freshman outside hitter Corinne Frick added two kills and a pair of digs.
In the match versus Franklin & Marshall, who won by set scores of 25-17, 25-20, 25-16, Zacher recorded 15 kills, five digs and a pair of service aces to move into seventh in school history with 1,221 kills and eighth in service aces with 147 in her career. Tiger added seven kills and a pair of blocks while Anslow had a pair of kills.
Kauffman had another 21 assists for the Greyhounds to go with six digs while Markovic made 11 digs with a pair of service aces. Szaro contributed six digs while junior defensive specialist Bridgette Devlin added four digs and Frick contributed two service aces and two digs.
Moravian is slated to return to action on Monday, September 25 in a non-conference match at Marywood University beginning at 7:00 p.m.
