Hounds Begin Weekend in Texas with Match at Texas Lutheran

SEGUIN, Texas --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team opened its weekend trip to Texas with a 3-0 loss to Texas Lutheran University in non-conference action Friday evening.

The first set remained close throughout with the Greyhounds, now 10-10 on the year, leading 20-19 before the Bulldogs scored six of the last seven points to earn a 25-21 set win. Texas Lutheran captured the second set 25-13 before completing the sweep with a 25-19 win in the third set.

Senior outside hitter Mary Zacher led the Hounds with 14 kills to go along with four digs to move into sixth in school history with 1,286 kills, and she is sixth in school history with 1,359 digs while junior middle blocker Erin Tiger added seven kills. Sophomore outside hitter Brooke Kusmider contributed five kills and a pair of digs while freshman midfielder Madi Anslow had two kills.

Sophomore setter Victoria Kauffman paced the Moravian offense with 26 assists while senior libero Jean Markovic had a team-high 13 digs and is now 19 digs shy of becoming the second player in school history to reach 2,000 career digs. Junior defensive specialist Bridgette Devlin had six digs in the contest while junior right side hitter Rachel Farmer and sophomore defensive specialist Alexis Szaro each added five digs.

Moravian will be back in action on Saturday, October 7 in a match at Schreiner (Texas) University beginning at 2:00 p.m. EDT.
