Greyhounds Head to Juniata for Landmark Conference Semifinal on November 1

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team won a pair of Landmark Conference matches on the final day of the regular season to clinch the fourth seed in the 2017 Landmark Conference Tournament and a berth in the Semifinals on Wednesday, November 1.

The Greyhounds, who are 18-14 on the year and finished the Landmark Conference regular season at 3-3, are heading to 10-time defending conference champion and top seed Juniata College for the semifinal contest beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Huntingdon on Wednesday. The Hounds and Eagles faced off at Elizabethtown College on September 30 with Juniata earning a 3-1 win. The Eagles are 21-8 on the season and ranked No. 22 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Top 25 poll. Juniata lost its first match in conference play dating back to 1983 last weekend when the squad fell to the University of Scranton, 3-2; however, the Eagles earned the top seed in the tournament, breaking a three-way tie with Scranton and Susquehanna University on games won between the trio.

Moravian Head Coach Shelley Bauder earned her 500th career win in the regular season finale. Bauder, who has a career mark of 500-337 in 25 seasons, is the 31st active NCAA Division III coach to reach the milestone.

This fall, senior outside hitter Mary Zacher leads the Hounds with 485 kills to go along with 358 digs, 37 service aces, 29 assists and 20 blocks while junior middle blocker Erin Tiger has added 313 kills, 38 digs, nine service aces and 67 blocks. Zacher is currently fourth in school history with 1,483 kills, sixth with 1,502 digs and sixth in service aces with 162. Freshman middle blocker Madi Anslow has contributed 165 kills, 69 blocks and 30 digs while sophomore outside hitter Brooke Kusmider has 157 kills, 95 digs and 15 service aces.

Sophomore setter Victoria Kauffman leads the Greyhounds with 1,117 assists and 38 service aces to go with 198 digs, 41 kills and 26 blocks while senior libero Jean Markovic has a team-high 618 digs, 62 assists and 34 service aces. Kauffman is fifth in school history with 2,283 assists while Markovic is second all-time with 2,230 digs Sophomore defensive specialist Alexis Szaro has contributed 234 digs, 19 assists and 17 service aces. 

Freshman outside hitter Corinne Frick has 80 kills, 83 digs and eight blocks so far in her debut season while freshman right side hitter Emerson Gieryic has 38 kills, 31 digs and 17 blocks. Junior right side hitter Rachel Farmer has added 36 kills, 40 digs, six blocks and four service aces while graduate student and middle blocker Jackie Finnegan has 17 kills, 15 digs and 31 blocks. Senior defensive specialist Ashton Galasso has added 24 digs and four service aces while junior defensive specialist Bridgette Devlin has 113 digs and sophomore outside hitter Hailee Yoder has four kills and four digs.
