Greyhounds Drop Close Non-Conference Match to Franklin & Marshall

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team dropped a close non-conference match to Franklin & Marshall College Tuesday evening in Johnston Hall by a 3-0 score.

The Diplomats and Greyhounds were tied at 14-14 in the opening set before F&M scored the 11 of the final 14 points for the 25-17 win to take a 1-0 lead. In the second set with the score tied at 4-4, Moravian ran off seven straight points with senior middle blocker Erin Tiger on the serve. The Diplomats would slowly close the game, eventually tying the set at 18-18 before posting a 25-21 win. The third set would go back-and-forth before F&M scored five straight points to break a 19-19 tie and eventually capture the set, 25-20.

Tiger led Moravian with 11 kills to go with three service aces and two blocks while freshman right side hitter Sela Herber had six kills and five digs. Freshman outside hitter Katie Hudson contributed five kills and six digs while freshman outside hitter Kirah Dreisbach had 10 digs and three kills. Senior outside hitter Brooke Kusmider also had three kills with a pair of digs while freshman right side hitter Jess Appleton added a pair of kills.

Junior setter Victoria Kauffman led the Moravian offense with 28 assists to go with seven digs while freshman libero Ally Locy had a team high 11 digs. Junior defensive specialist Alexis Szaro added three digs while sophomore defensive specialist Jasmine Pavlinsky had two digs and freshman middle blocker Paige Kowalski added one kill.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Friday, September 14 in the opening round of the Knights Invitational hosted by Neumann University with matches versus Widener University at 4:00 p.m. and New York University at 6:00 p.m.
