Moravian Drops Landmark Conference Contest to Susquehanna University

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting Susquehanna University in Landmark Conference action Wednesday night in Johnston Hall.

The Hounds fell in the opening set, 25-13, before taking a 5-2 lead in the second set behind the serving of freshman libero Ally Locy. The River Hawks came back to take the lead before Locy served Moravian back in front, 15-13. Susquehanna responded again to take the set 25-21, and the River Hawks won the third set by the same score.

Senior middle blocker Erin Tiger led the Greyhounds with seven kills while senior outside hitter Brooke Kusmider had four kills and a team-high 15 digs. Freshman right side hitter Jess Appleton and freshman middle blocker Renee Mapa each had three kills with Mapa making four blocks and Appleton added a pair of blocks.

Freshman setter/right side hitter Sela Herber had 15 assists and five digs while junior setter Victoria Kauffman contributed six assists and three digs. Freshman outside hitter Kirah Dreisbach added two kills and five digs while freshman outside hitter Katie Hudson also added two kills and three digs. Locy had 11 digs in the contest while junior defensive specialist Alexis Szaro added nine digs.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, October 6 with matches at Penn State Brandywine at 12:00 p.m. an Cedar Crest College at 2:00 p.m.
