Hounds Sweep Non-Conference Matches at Penn State Brandywine

MEDIA, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team swept a pair of matches at Penn State Brandywine Saturday afternoon, defeating the host 3-0 and then beating Cedar Crest College, 3-1.

The Hounds earned a 25-20, 25-22, 25-14 win over Penn State Brandywine. Senior outside hitter Brooke Kusmider led the Blue and Grey with seven kills to go with 10 digs and three service aces while freshman outside hitter Kirah Dreisbach added six kills and a team-high 15 digs and freshman right side hitter Jess Appleton had six kills. Freshman middle blocker Renee Mapa contributed five kills and two blocks while freshman right side hitter/setter Sela Herber, freshman outside hitter Katie Hudson and sophomore right side hitter Emerson Gieryic all had three kills with Herber adding eight assists and two blocks.

Junior setter Victoria Kauffman led Moravian with 26 assists while freshman libero Ally Locy had 12 digs. Junior defensive specialist Alexis Szaro and sophomore defensive specialist Jasmine Pavlinsky each had three digs while senior outside hitter Rachel Farmer had six digs and senior middle blocker Erin Tiger added two kills.

The Greyhounds defeated Cedar Crest by set scores of 25-18, 25-23, 21-25, 25-19. Kusmider led Moravian with 16 kills and 17 digs while Mapa had 14 kills and three blocks. Tiger contributed 13 kills, four digs and three blocks while Dreisbach added nine kills, a team-high 33 digs and two blocks. Herber had seven kills while Kauffman had 57 assists to become the fourth setter in school history to reach 3,000 career assists to go along with 14 digs and a pair of kills. Locy contributed 17 digs and two service aces while Szaro had 12 digs and two service aces and Pavlinsky added 11 digs.

The Greyhounds are slated to return to the court on Thursday, October 11 when the squad hosts Keystone College beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall.
