Greyhounds Capture Tri-Match At Ursinus with Immaculata

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team earned a pair of non-conference victories in a tri-match at Ursinus College Saturday afternoon, defeating Immaculata University, 3-1, and topping the host Bears, 3-0.

The Greyhounds, now 13-13 this fall, beat Immaculata in four sets, 25-15, 17-25, 25-15, 25-21. Senior middle blocker Erin Tiger led the squad with 10 kills to go with four service aces and three blocks while senior outside hitter Brooke Kusmider had eight kills, seven service aces and three digs. Freshman right side hitter Jess Appleton contributed four kills and three blocks while freshman outside hitter Katie Hudson had three kills and five digs.

Junior setter Victoria Kauffman race the Moravian offense with 26 assists to go along with six digs, five service aces and two kills while freshman libero Ally Locy had a team-high eight digs. Sophomore defensive specialist Jasmine Pavlinsky added seven digs while freshman outside hitter Kirah Dreisbach had six digs and a pair of kills. Junior defensive specialist Alexis Szaro contributed five digs while sophomore right side hitter Emerson Gieryic had two kills and two blocks. Freshman right side hitter Sela Herber also had a pair of kills to go with four assists while freshman middle blocker Renee Mapa made two kills.

Moravian would top Ursinus, 25-21, 25-22, 25-21 for the team's seventh sweep of the season. Tiger had a team-high 13 kills in the match to go with three blocks and a pair of digs. Mapa contributed nine kills, three blocks and a pair of digs while Kusmider had seven kills and 11 digs. Herber and Hudson each had three kills with Hudson adding six digs and two blocks.

Kauffman controlled the Greyhounds' offense with 28 assists, and she added nine digs, four service aces and a pair of blocks. Szaro added a team-high 12 digs to go along with two assists while Pavlinsky had nine digs. Locy contributed seven digs while Dreisbach had four digs.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, October 17 in a Landmark Conference contest at The University of Scranton beginning at 7:00 p.m.
