Moravian Falls at Scranton in Landmark Conference Action

SCRANTON, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team fell 3-0 at The University of Scranton in Landmark Conference action Wednesday evening.

The Greyhounds, who had won their last five matches, dropped the opening set, 25-15, before taking an early lead in the second set. The Hounds led 13-12 before the Royals rallied take the set 25-21. Scranton went on to win the third set 25-11.

Freshman middle blocker Renee Mapa led Moravian with six kills and a pair of blocks while senior middle blocker Erin Tiger contributed five kills and two blocks. Senior outside hitter Brooke Kusmider also had five kills to go with four digs while freshman outside hitter Katie Hudson added four kills and three digs.

Freshman right side hitter/setter Sela Herber led the squad with 12 assists to go with two kills, three blocks and a pair of digs while junior setter Victoria Kauffman added seven assists and two digs. Sophomore defensive specialist Jasmine Pavelinsky contributed a team-high 24 digs with three assists and two service aces while freshman outside hitter Kirah Dreisbach had eight digs and junior defensive specialist Alexis Szaro added six digs.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Thursday, October 18 when the squad welcomes rival Muhlenberg College to Johnston Hall for a non-conference match beginning at 7:00 p.m.
