Greyhounds Fall To Pratt Institute On Senior Day

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's volleyball team fell to visiting Pratt Institute, 3-1, on Senior Day in Johnston Hall as the Greyhounds played their final non-conference match of 2022.

How It Happened

  • The Cannoneers took a 4-1 lead to start the opening set, and Pratt pushed the edge to 10-2. The Blue & Grey eventually closed within two points at 21-19 before the Cannoneers scored four of the last five points to capture the set 25-20 set victory
  • The second set went back-and-forth with neither team leading by more than two points until Moravian moved ahead 18-13. The Hounds went on to win the set 25-18 to even the contest at 1-1
  • In the third set, the game was tied at 6-6 when the Cannoneers pulled away. The Greyhounds fought back and tied the set at 20-20; however, Pratt would earn a 25-21 set victory to move back ahead
  • The Cannoneers had a 4-1 edge to start the fourth set while the Hounds rallied and led 19-14. Pratt countered and won 11 of the last 13 points to take the set 25-21 and the match
  • Prior to the contest, Moravian honored seniors libero Gabby Mancini and setter Natalia Matos

Inside the Numbers

  • Sophomore outside hitter Jenna Deegan led the Greyhounds with 11 kills to go with three blocks while junior right side hitter Sophie Bauer had 10 kills
  • Junior middle blocker Autumn Marerro added six kills and three blocks while junior middle blocker Grace Silfani and sophomore right side hitter Makenzie Krasley both had five kills with Silfani contributing a pair of blocks
  • Matos ran the offense with 35 assists to go with seven digs while Mancini had a team-high 18 digs and a pair of service aces
  • Junior defensive specialist Kay DeYesso had 12 digs while junior defensive specialist Allie Ludlow added 11 digs and freshman setter Ally Plitnick contributed seven digs and three service aces
