Women Finish 1st in White 6K at Lehigh Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's cross country team finished first in the White 6K at the Lehigh University Invitational to open the 2014 season Friday.

The Greyhounds scored 49 points against the other four NCAA Division III schools competing with Landmark Conference rival The University of Scranton coming in second with 62 points, just one point ahead of Muhlenberg College. West Virginia University captured the Brown 6K among the three NCAA Division I teams running with all 106 competitors on the course at the same time on the Goodman Campus.

Senior Emily Lambright paced the Hounds, finishing with a time of 23:44.99 to place fifth of 70 runners in the White 6K, and she was 27th overall. Sophomore Meg Brockett was one spot behind Lambright in sixth with a time of 23:52.12 while senior Devon Bedell was 13th in 24:24.98. Freshman Meredith Colton was 17th in her debut race with a time of 24:39.35 while sophomore Sarah Hughes rounded out Moravian's top five with a 19th place finish in 25:10.55.

Senior Claire Del Casale began her final season with a 22nd place in25:54.10 while senior Jessie Goldberg took 25th  in 25:41.39 and freshman Christine Hughes was one spot back in 26th in her debut race. Sophomore Larissa Strycharz took 29th and freshman Jillian Troisi finished 33rd to round out Moravian's runners in the meet.

The Greyhounds are not scheduled to return to action until Saturday, September 20 when then head to the Dickinson College Long/Short Invitational.
