Brockett Races to Second at Lehigh Invitational to Begin 2016

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's cross country squad started the 2016 season Friday evening by running in the Lehigh University Invitational on the Goodman Campus.

The Greyhounds  placed third of five teams at the meet, finishing behind the University of Delaware and host Lehigh. Senior Meg Brockett led Moravian with a second place finish of the 57 runners, and she had a time of 21:52.7 on the 6,000-meter course, averaging 5:51.9 per mile. Senior Sarah Hughes also had a top 10 finish, taking seventh in a time of 22:28.1.

Freshman Ashley Rohrer was 25th in her first collegiate race in 24:33.9 while freshman Katie Mayer was a second behind in 26th place and freshman Carly Danoski finished in 27th another five seconds back. The Greyhounds had two other top 35 finishes with freshman Rachel Mikols running a 24:47.0 for 31st and senior Larissa Strycharz finishing in 32nd with a time of 24:52.8.

Moravian has a week off before hosting the Moravian College Invitational at Bicentennial Park in Northampton on Friday, September 16 at 5:30 p.m.
