Brockett Selected as Landmark Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College senior Meg Brockett has been selected as the Landmark Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for her performance last week.

Brockett, who earned the honor for the second time this season, helped the Greyhounds finish first at the Moravian XC Invitational last Friday evening as she won the 6,000-meter race for her first career individual victory. Brockett had a time of 22:05.06 to lead the 73-runner field on the course at Bicentennial Park on the border of Bethlehem and Northampton in East Allen Township. Her time was the 14th best in school history.

"Meg had some pre race distractions that took her out of her routine but she still managed to focus well when the gun went off," commented Head Coach Jesse Baumman. "There were some really strong runners in the field and Meg displayed her trademark patience before making a move mid-race and running yet another impressive time to pick up the win."

The meet was the first home regular season meet for the Greyhounds in over 20 years, and the course is the same one that will be used for the 2016 Landmark Conference Championships hosted by Moravian on October 29.

The Hounds have a week off from competition before returning to action on Saturday, October 1 in the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University.
