Moravian Women Ranked 8th in USTFCCCA Mideast Regional Rankings

NEW ORLEANS, La. --- The Moravian College women's cross country team returned to the Mideast Region Rankings this week in the eighth spot in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III Regional Rankings.

The Greyhounds returned to the poll after dropping out last week. Moravian had been ranked tenth in the second poll two weeks ago. Moravian had a strong showing at last weekend's Paul Short Run at Lehigh University including senior Meg Brockett finishing fifth in the Brown race with a school record time of 21:06 for 6,000 meters.

"We were really happy with Saturday," commented Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "It's one thing to have good workouts and know what you're capable of, it's another to actually prove it on race day. Every runner either set a PR or a season's best time, and we were just five seconds from our goal of getting our top five under 24:00. We ended up placing close to a number of nationally and regionally ranked teams as well, so it's a good sign at the midpoint of the season that we're where we need to be. We set a goal in the beginning of the season to finish top 10 at Regionals, and Saturday demonstrated that's a realistic goal for us."

Moravian's teams are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, October 8 at the DeSales University Invitational.
