Brockett, Hughes and Mayer Earn NCAA DIII Mideast All-Region Honors

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's cross country squad raced to seventh of 51 teams at the 2016 NCAA Division III Mideast Regional hosted by DeSales University Saturday.

The Greyhound's had three All-Region runners with senior Meg Brockett finishing second of the 371 runners on the 6,000-meter course in a time of 21:38, senior Sarah Hughes placing 11th in 22:01 and freshman Katie Mayer  taking 23rd in a time of 22:38 as the top 35 runners in the meet earn All-Region honors.

Brockett and Hughes earned trips to next weekend's NCAA Division III National Championship being hosted by Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky after being part of the seven top individual finishers not on one of the two automatic qualifying teams. The duo are the first two Greyhounds to run at the NCAA Division III National meet since Cadee Rockwell raced in 2010.

The Greyhounds other top seven runners included freshman Jane Burgoyne in 88th with a time of 24:08, freshman Carly Danoski in 103rd in 24:20. Freshman Ashley Rohrer in 114th with a time of 24:29 and sophomore Alyssa Limbaugh at 201st in 25:45.

Moravian scored 225 points as a team for its seventh place finish, and the Greyhounds were the second of five Landmark Conference teams in the meet. The Hounds also finished eight spots ahead of rival Muhlenberg College to earn a point in the annual Matte Award standings.
