TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian University women's cross country squad placed fifth at the 2022 Landmark Conference Championships hosted by Goucher College Saturday.
How It Happened
- The Greyhounds scored 93 points
- The University of Scranton win the title with 42 points as the Royals edge Elizabethtown College by one point
Moravian Results
- Freshman Tara Smurla led Moravian with a sixth place finish out of 78 runners in a 6,000-meter time of 23:28.0. Smurla earned Landmark All-Conference First Team honors for finishing in the top seven, and she was awarded Rookie of the Year as the top first year runner in the race
- Sophomore Amber Poniktera earned Landmark All-Conference Second Team accolades with a 12th place finish in a time of 23:54.9
- Senior Rachel Byrne took 21st in a time of 24:35.5 while sophomore Rachael Goodman finished 28th in 25:11.8 and sophomore Lily Mingora placed 30th in a time of 25:29.5 to round out the Greyhounds' top five
- Freshman Grace Tirabassi took 36th in a time of 25:43.4 while freshman Tori Champagne was 39th in 25:59.0
- Freshman Meghan Myers turned in a time of 26:02.5 to finish in 42nd while sophomore Catie Lovett took 46th in 26:13.7 and sophomore Rylie Murphy finished 51st in a time of 26:48.8
- Moravian had five other runners in the race with sophomore Gillian Schonenberg taking 57th in 27:20.9, senior Peyton Herbst finishing 60th with a time of 27:38.1, sophomore Hannah Kolonoski placing 63rd in 28:09.0, sophomore Ally Meeks taking 71st in a time of 29:27.3 and junior Emma Garchinsky finishing 75th in 31:41.9
