How did you choose your sport? Both my parents had played softball/baseball growing up, so I started playing when I was 8. I just enjoyed playing Softball more than any other sport I played so I decided to stick with it.
Why did you come to Moravian College? Moravian's academics, environment, and competitive softball history is what really drove me to come here. When I did my overnight, I really liked the team atmosphere as well as the campus feel.
What is your major and how did you choose it? I am majoring in Neuroscience and I am minoring in Chemistry. In high school I took a Criminology and an AP Psychology course that really piqued my interest in the brain; specifically, how it impacts our behavior. I originally wanted to major in Psych when I got to Moravian but realized that I am more interested in how the biology of the brain impacts our behaviors more than just the behaviors themselves.
What are your future plans? My future plans are to attend graduate school to get my Ph.D. and I just finished all my applications! I am looking to pursue a career in research on psychiatric diseases.
What is your favorite place on campus? Honestly, the turf field! I have so many fun memories on the turf like sledding, playing spike-ball, and just hanging out with all my friends.
What activities/organizations at Moravian College have you been active in as a student-athlete? I have been a part of Brain Club for the past two years. It's really cool we hold events, like Brain Awareness Week, that really connect the community to Neuroscience.
What is your most memorable moment at Moravian? For Softball, definitely beating Scranton sophomore year or winning Conferences freshman year. Generally, I have a lot of great snow day memories at Moravian.
Do you have any pre-event rituals or superstitions? On game day you can't step on the lines, no matter what.
What advice do you have for prospective student-athletes looking to attend Moravian College? Make sure you understand the history of the athletic program you're planning on joining. It is so important to understand the team dynamic, player-coach dynamic, and competitiveness level that you're signing up for. We have some very competitive teams at Moravian that expect a lot from their players so it's important to understand exactly what you are walking into. Also, the athletic teams at Moravian are like a huge family so make sure you go support sports outside of your own!
What is the best piece of advice you've been given? Always ask the question because the worst answer you can get is 'No' and if you never ask, you'll never know.
Who are your role models/most influential people? Both my parents because they are so supportive, hardworking, and caring towards everyone. I really can't thank them enough for everything they have taught me. Also, my advisor, Dr. Cecilia Fox. She is one of the most intelligent people I have ever met and every day I strive to have her confidence.
Which three people, living or dead, would you like to share a meal with? I honestly have no idea.
Tell us something about yourself that would surprise most people. I was supposed to be left-handed, but when I was younger, I broke my left arm. Since I was in a cast, I had to use my right arm for things and now I am ambidextrous.
