Seven Greyhounds Named to 2021 Landmark Baseball All-Conference Squads

TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian College baseball team has had seven players named to the 2021 Landmark Baseball All-Conference Teams led by junior pitcher Eddie Olsen and sophomore designated hitter Derek Holmes, who were selected to the First Team.

The Greyhounds' All-Conference Second Team honorees were senior pitcher Kyle Serman, senior first baseman Brett Moyer, sophomore second baseman Chris Pow, senior outfielder Thomas Philipps and graduate student outfielder Carmine Palummo. All seven honorees earned Landmark All-Conference accolades for the first time in their careers.

The group helped the Greyhounds to a 13-17 record this season including a 12-10 mark in the Landmark Conference regular season to earn the fourth seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament.

Olsen posted a 5-2 record this spring with a pair of complete games in seven starts and 10 total appearances. He had 36 strikeouts and allowed 16 walks in 38.1 innings of action. Olsen is 10-8 in his career with one save, 97 strikeouts, a 4.35 ERA and 111.2 innings pitched over 27 appearances with 19 starts.

Holmes hit .325 this spring with 27 hits, 13 runs, two doubles, a triple and 15 RBIs. Holmes has 33 hits in 104 career at-bats for a .317 average, and he also has a .394 career slugging percentage and a .366 on-base percentage over 34 games.

Serman posted five saves this spring, the second most in a single season in school history, and he had 24 strikeouts and nine walks in 28.2 innings over 13 appearances with a pair of starts. Serman made 32 career trips to the mound with four starts, a 1-4 record, five saves and 37 strikeouts in 50.2 innings of action.

Moyer posted a .368 batting average in 2021 with 35 hits, 23 runs, nine doubles, a triple, two homers and 32 RBIs. He has posted a .322 career average with 64 hits, 17 doubles, two triples, three home runs, 59 RBIs, a .427 on-base percentage and a .472 slugging percentage in 76 career games.

Pow recorded a .358 average this spring with 19 hits, 10 runs, three doubles, a homer and eight RBIs. In 24 career contests, Pow is hitting .353 with 24 hits, 13 runs, four doubles, a homer, 11 RBIs, a .457 on-base percentage and a .456 slugging percentage.

Philipps hit .320 this season with 24 hits, 10 runs, five doubles, a triple, a homer and 11 RBIs. Over his career, Philipps played in 81 games and hit .311 with 64 hits, 29 runs, 15 doubles, one triple, one home run, 32 RBIs, a .376 on-base percentage and a .408 slugging percentage.

Palummo, who made the All-Conference Team as a utility player, returned for a fifth year and hit .318 this spring with 28 hits, 20 runs, a double, 10 RBIs and 13 stolen bases. In 143 career games, Palummo posted a .326 average with 162 hits, which ranks 13th in program history, 112 runs, which is 11th all-time, 14 doubles, three triples, one homer, 57 RBIs, 48 stolen bases, which is fifth in school history, a .411 on-base percentage and a .372 slugging percentage.
