La PLUME, Pa. --- The Moravian University baseball team dropped its final non-conference contest of the 2022 season, falling to host Keystone College, 19-2, Thursday afternoon.
How It Happened
- The Greyhounds jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning when senior third baseman David Bertolotti started the frame with a solo home run, his second career homer. It is the second straight game Bertolotti connected on a solo round-tripper for the Hounds' first run of the game
- The Giants took the lead with 11 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning
- Moravian scored again in the top of the sixth inning with Bertolotti crossing the plate again. He hit a one-out infield single and came home on an RBI single by sophomore outfielder Matt Madigan
- Keystone would score twice in the bottom of the sixth, four times in the seventh and two more runs in the eighth to finish off the scoring
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian had nine hits in the game with Bertolotti going 2-for-5 with two runs, an RBI and his homer. Junior designated hitter Derek Holmes and sophomore shortstop Paul Croyle were both 2-for-4 with Croyle adding a double and Holmes registering a stolen base
- Senior catcher Nick Montone and sophomore catcher Connor Wengryn each connected on a double in the game while Madigan had one hit and an RBI
- Junior Tyler Valentine made the start on the mound for the Blue and Grey, and he had three strikeouts in three-plus innings of action. Junior Andrew Connallon faced three batters while junior Kenny Kunzman tossed two-thirds of an inning. Freshman Matt Snyder recorded a strikeout in 1.1 innings of work while junior AJ Gordon pitched two innings. Freshman Chris Medei posted one strikeout in an inning of action
