BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University field hockey squad dropped its second straight overtime contest to start the 2022 season as the Greyhounds fell to visiting Misericordia University, 3-2, in the final seconds of the first overtime Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

How It Happened

• The squads played a scoreless first quarter. Just over five minutes into the second quarter, junior forward Bekkah Kehoe dribbled into the circle and slid a crossing pass to sophomore forward Sydney Anderson, who knocked the ball into the net for her second goal of the season
• The Hounds needed just 39 seconds to double the lead with junior midfielder Maria Tice blasting in a long shot on a penalty corner inserted by senior midfielder Mackenzie Jakobsen. The contest would remain 2-0 until halftime
• Misericordia got on the scoreboard 3:43 into the third quarter by knocking a loose ball off of a rebound in the circle to cut the Blue and Grey's edge to 2-1. That is where the score remained through the third quarter
• The Cougars found the tying goal with just 21 seconds left in regulation on a penalty corner to knot the score at 2-2 and force overtime
• Misericordia won the match with just two seconds remaining in the first overtime on another penalty corner

Inside the Numbers

• Tice's goal was the first of her career with the Greyhounds while Anderson netted her 17th career goal. Kehoe and Jakobsen each had their first assist of the 2022 season and third of their careers
• Junior defender Jenna Segrave made three defensive saves for the Blue and Grey
• Senior goalie Brooke Wilkinson recorded two saves in the match
