STOCKTON, N.J. --- The Moravian University field hockey team scored with less than five minutes left in regulation but ended up falling to host Stockton University, 2-1 in a shootout, during a non-conference match on the road Wednesday evening.
How It Happened
- The squads played a scoreless first half of the night with each team getting just one shot in the opening 30 minutes
- The Ospreys broke onto the scoreboard in the 39th minute to take a 1-0 lead
- The Hounds knotted the match with just 4:55 to play as sophomore forward Sydney Anderson tipped in a crossing pass from senior midfielder Maddie Call
- Neither squad was able to get a goal in the two 10-minute overtime with the Greyhounds dominating shots 6-1 in the extra time and getting four penalty corners including one with less than a second to play in the final overtime
- In the shootout, Moravian missed all four of its opportunities while the Ospreys converted on two-of-three shots
Inside the Numbers
- Anderson's goal was her team-leading eighth of 2022 and the 21st of her career while Call picked up her third assist of the season and the ninth of her career
- Senior goalie Brooke Wilkinson did not register a save in the 80 minutes of action, and she had one stop in the shootout
- The Greyhounds held a 16-3 advantage in shots and an 11-2 edge in penalty corners on the evening
