Moravian Scores First but Falls to Catholic on the Road

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The Moravian University field hockey team scored the opening goal of the match but ended up falling to host The Catholic University of America, 2-1, in Landmark Conference action Saturday evening. 

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds scored the opening goal in the 13th minute when sophomore forward Sydney Anderson knocked in a crossing pass from senior midfielder Maddie Call. The Hounds would hold that 1-0 edge after the first quarter
  • Catholic scored twice in a span of 34 seconds during the 17th minute early in the second quarter to move ahead 2-1. Those would be the last two goals of the match as neither team found the cage in the second half

Inside the Numbers

  • Anderson's goal was her team-leading ninth of the season and the 24th of her career to move into a tie for tenth all-time in program history
  • Call recorded her fifth assist of 2022 and the 11th of her career
  • Senior goalie Brooke Wilkinson made four saves in the contest
  • Catholic finished the match with a 10-3 advantage in shots and a 5-2 edge in penalty corners
