Greyhounds Shutout Goucher on Senior Day & Clinch Landmark Conference Tournament Berth

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University field hockey squad posted an 8-0 victory over visiting Goucher College on Senior Day at John Makuvek Field Saturday evening after the Greyhounds had clinched a Landmark Conference Tournament berth earlier in the day with results from around the conference.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds needed just over four minutes to start the scoring as sophomore forward Sydney Anderson scored an unassisted goal off of a rebound
  • The Hounds pushed the advantage to 2-0 in the 13th minute as freshman forward Brooke Sodl tipped in a long pass from junior defender Onalee Long
  • Moravian netted three goals in the final 4:37 of the second quarter to head to the intermission leading 5-0. Anderson found the cage again off of a pass from senior midfielder Emily Wells while senior midfielder Maddie Call connected on a penalty stroke. Anderson finished off the first half scoring with a long shot inside the post with just 20 seconds before the intermission
  • Call netted another goal jut 2:47 into the second half while Wells scored in the 36th minute off of a pass from junior defender Jenna Segrave on a penalty corner to make it 7-0 after 45 minutes of action
  • The Greyhounds finished off the scoring in the 58th minute as sophomore forward Marianna Crisafulli sent a long crossing pass in that Anderson one-touched over to junior forward Hanna Leto, who tapped the ball into an open cage

Inside the Numbers

  • Anderson's hat trick was her first of the season and the second of her career. She has 12 goals in 2022 and 27 in her career to move into a tie for seventh in program history, and Anderson is now tied for sixth in school history with 61 points
  • Sodl scored the first goal of her career while Long notched her third assist of the season and fifth of her career
  • Call netted her first two goals of the fall to give her 14 goals in her career while Wells now has four goals and six assists this season and 17 goals and 19 assists in her career to rank 14th in program history, and her 19 assists are fifth all-time
  • Leto scored her second goal of the season and fourth of her career while both Segrave and Crisafulli each had their first career assists
  • Senior goalie Brooke Wilkinson did not face a shot in her fifth shutout of the season and tenth of her career
  • Prior to the start of the match, the Greyhounds honored seniors Call, Wells, Wilkinson, defender Elise Keeney and midfielder Mackenzie Jakobsen
